Charismatic Authority: Methodological Approaches in New Religious Movements Studies
Exnerová, Helena ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Kostičová, Zuzana (referee)
This thesis focuses on the definition of terms charisma and charismatic authority and its application in new religious movements (NRMs) studies. The first part of the thesis is rather generally oriented and provides a commentary review of the most famous approaches to charisma. In the end, the discussion about various theories of charisma results in its definition from the perspective of Religious Studies. This definition is applied in the second part of this paper afterwards. Second part introduces intricate history of term NRMs and its semantics including sociological typology. Furthermore, it is argued that NRMs are charismatic movements and the author suggests a model of charismatisation degree inside NRMs. These claims head towards the deconstruction of relationship between charismatic leader and his followers. The inner dynamics of charismatisation process is stressed. By referring to problematics of origin, constitution and maintaining charisma within NRMs, this thesis proves that charisma is a relatively common, social and dialectical phenomenon.
National Party
Sibřinová, Pavla ; Charvát, Jan (advisor) ; Just, Petr (referee)
The National Party was active in the Czech politics roughly from 2000 to 2009.Despite the fact that the party had great political ambitions, it did not make any major electoral gains. The National Party is described in detail in chapters devoted to the formation of the National Party, its political agenda, ideological classification, to individuals and organizations participating in the establishment of the National Party, its political marketing, and the results of the National Party in the elections and international cooperation. The thesis addresses the following research questions: Why was the party unsuccessful? Concerning political marketing, were the selected communication channels adequate and was the way the party communicated correct? and Is there demand for a similar party in the Czech Republic at the moment?. We will answer the questions raised by applying a theoretical framework based on Cas Mudde's publication Populist Radical Right Parties in Europe and Alina Polyakova's study Explaining Support for Radical Right Parties in New Democracies: The Limits of Structural Determinants and the Potentiality of Civil Society, and also by conducting a survey which will research citizens' stands on various political issues.
Euroscepticism in Italy and its influence on the relation with the EU
Srba, Lukáš Martin ; Rolenc, Jan Martin (advisor) ; Peterková, Jana (referee)
This bachelor thesis aims to explain how euroscepticism in Italy affected the relation between the country and the European Union. It is focused on the development and analysis of euroscepticism in general. Later the findings are applied to the case of Italy, through which I analyse the factors that contributed to the rise of euroscepticism and the popularity of this stance. The focus is on the events from 2009 to 2014, namely the crucial events in Italy (Tangentopoli, introduction of Euro, political elections, and so forth). The situations in Greece, Germany and Spain are analysed and compared (with Italy and each other) next. The consequences of the debt crisis on the countries, such as the creation of the first Eurosceptic party in Germany or the deferring consequences of the crisis in Greece and Spain are also described. Thanks to the comparison, the situation in Italy and its consequences for the EU (and vice-versa) are put into a broader perspective and better understood. The last chapter describes the way the changes in attitude towards the EU influenced the relations between Italy and the Union (from an originally positive relation to a currently passive-negative one). The contemporary situation and its possible consequences (for example the changes in function and form of the EU and Eurozone, or the possible reforms in Italy) are accentuated throughout the thesis.
